Review of Manitou Springs, Colorado

I lived in Manitou Springs area for 5 years and after relocating for work (lay off), I still miss living there. The entire little town can feel a bit touristy in the summer, but I could deal with it since everyone was so nice and friendly. The shop owners along the main street took such pride in their shops and made sure you were greeted with a smile and some small talk. The weather was the best of anywhere I have ever lived (PA, VA, ID, MD, WI). I remember starting my days telling my young son, "It's another beautiful day in Colorado."

Easy access to Colorado Springs lets you live in a small funky Western art town, but still enjoy (?) the mexaplex movie theaters, malls, and culture of a bigger city. Even Denver isn't that far away for the major sports and concerts. I often got in the car and found a new hiking trail within minutes of leaving my house. Everyone is always outside, but it never feels crowded. Again, the nicest, most upbeat, friendly people I've met seem to live there. One day I'll go back...

I miss it too! Relocated to Austin, TX for a job.....I'm in culture shock! I miss the friendly, kind people and the beautiful mountain air!
